Creating Business Value Through Technology

Location: IT department of Islamabad Stock Exchange is located on the Mezzanine floor of the ISE building. Help desk is on the left side of the Mezzanine floor where any complaints regarding the network, trading system, TWS or software issues on the ISE network can be submitted. Rest of the wings of IT department are out of bound for everyone except for the staff.

Network: To manage the storm of enterprise data, the IT department is maintaining and improving a multiple VLAN network. CISCO 100 base switches are performing the routing function on the different floors. High-performance parallel processor servers guarantee the commitment to serve the changing needs of the trading business. A dedicated and skilled network department manage the network of the building.

Trading Engine: The main software at ISE is the ULTRA TRADE which is join venture of LSE and ISE. Ultra trade has 4 major modules which are capable of managing the trading and settlement operations in an excellent and fool proof manner. Ultra Trade has been purchased from LSE. Its main modules include Trading engine, TWS, clearinghouse system, CFS Mark II and backoffice system. check ultra trade for further details.

Security: We guarantee security at various levels of information transferring and processing in our enterprise model.

Major security levels are listed below:

• All equipments receive clean power through stabilizers. UPS units are assigned to each network component.
• CISCO hardware firewall protects internal VLANs from internet hazards.
• Enterprised anti-virus software is installed both on server and client machine to guarantee a virus free network.
• Data being the most critical asset in ISE its given due importance by taking backup at various stages. During trading hours runtime back is taken by the back-up machine. and after trading hour again two copies of the data are developed and kept under tight surveillance.
• Application level security is monitored by user id and passwords.
• Network administrator monitors a policy implementation on every client terminal and violation of the policy has a serious plenty.

Joint venture: ISE is also on internet as a result of a joint venture with NayaTel who is providing a dedicated internet bandwidth of 4MB to ISE. Primary link with auto backups.

A very competent and experienced team of professionals is given the responsibility of providing support services for the network. Network support people are always ready for a prompt solution to any problem coming in the network. Major responsibilities of the support department includes Ensure smooth functioning of the members VLAN which has the TWS net on it. Maintain all the servers on the servers VLAN.

Install any application on all trading workstations as per requirement. Purchase and install computer systems, printers, scanner etc on the network on requirement basis.
